the rantings and ravings of the esteemed
DOCTOR MUFFIN for your reading pleasure

..........Hello, my name is Doctor Muffin and welcome to my site. Here I would like to post my latest writings on a wide array of topics. I will try and be organized and index all of this "stuff" for easy reference. My main areas of interest are personal experience, celebrities, movies, music and history. Hopefully these rantings might form a bit of comic relief as a hedge against the bad and sometimes brutal world on the outside. Thanks for visiting.

DOCTOR MUFFIN'S PEARLS OF WISDOM
.....Even though things may seem dark at the moment you can be sure that tomorrow will bring a better day.
.....It makes you wonder about organized religion when you see in the news that Muslim extremists are killing fellow Muslims and Christian Catholics are hurting Christian Protestants. It makes a strong case for being Buddhist or being an atheist. Doctor Muffin is apart-time Buddhist.
.....Getting back to the Buddhist thing if you believe in this than reincarnation is a strong possibility. Then you would have to believe that things could be worse. You could come back as a cockroach.
.....But Doctor Muffin also likes tarot cards and reads from her own deck. Go figure?
.....Does it make sense that opposites attract yet they can also hate each other? Yet this is the way things are.

THE LION IN WINTER - THE AFTERMATH
.....I was watching an old classic last night that I had not seen in years called "The Lion In Winter". In case you are not familiar with this movie it came out in 1968 and it starred Peter O'Toole and Katherine Hepburn. It was basically the story of a day in the life of King Henry the 2nd of England. His three sons all want to take over from Henry and plot and scheme between them with the help of their mother Eleanor. The movie is left at loose ends at the very end making you wonder what happened to all the personalities. What became of King Henry? Which son became the next king? It was time to hit the books and do some research.
...Richard was the son who became king in 1189 five years after the time frame of the movie. He eventually became Richard the lion-hearted and went on crusades. He was king for only ten years.
...His mother, Eleanor outlived him by three years. I guess crusading wore him out. In the movie he had been Eleanor's favourite.
...In the film Eleanor had been in prison at the Salisbury Tower for a number of years. Upon king Henry's death in 1189 she became a free woman again.
...And John who was the youngest son and portrayed as a real idiot in the film later became king when his brother Richard died in 1202. He was king for fourteen years.
...One year after the timeframe of the movie that conniving and very smart son Geoffrey was killed in a tournament in Paris. If he had lived it would have changed the outcome of history as he was a force to be reconed with.

...Here is a handsome actor who needs no intrduction. Dare I say he is probably the best looking actor in the world today. Pierce Brosnan has done a great job as James Bond the role for which he is best known. My personal favourite Pierce movie was the re-make of Robinson Crusoe. He was great as Robinson and I think as well a very versatile actor. He's not just another pretty face. As well you should check out "Tailor of Panama" in which he portrays a more unsavory character.
